Meet Dr. Andrea Shelton
Dr. Andrea Shelton was born and raised just south of us in Louisville. Growing up, her dentist made a tremendous impact on her life through her kindness, encouragement, and passion for positive dental experiences. This inspired Dr. Andrea from a young age to pursue a career in dentistry. She is living proof of the impact a dentist can make on a child.
Dr. Andrea received her undergraduate degree in biology from Georgetown College and completed her dental education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She completed a general practice residency, which provides advanced postdoctoral education to dentists, particularly in the areas of complex medical conditions and special needs, at the University of Kentucky. Then she worked as a general dentist in a nonprofit clinic for children where she realized pediatric dentistry was the best profession in the world.
Dr. Andrea returned to training to complete a pediatric dental residency at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, where she served as chief resident. She received the James A. Weddell scholarship for her outstanding performance in pediatric dentistry during her residency. Her research has been published in the Journal of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Andrea and her husband loved this area so much that they decided to call it home! She has been practicing for almost a decade and has also had the opportunity to work as an attending at Riley Hospital for Children to teach future pediatric dentists. Dr. Andrea is a board-certified pediatric dentist by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Andrea and her husband live in Brownsburg with their children and dogs. Becoming a mom has been her greatest joy and has absolutely made her a better doctor. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family. She is a huge animal lover and has rescued several dogs! She and her family love being involved in their church!
Her favorite place in the world is Disney World! She is an avid sports fan and loves college football and basketball! She will never turn down chips and salsa, cheese dip, or anything chocolate. Dr. Andrea is so excited to meet you!
