Your First Visit
Hooray! We are so glad you are here! Our office, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics, recommends your child establish a dental home by the first birthday, and visit the dentist every six months. Children with a dental home are more likely to receive proper dental care and less likely to experience dental pain or miss school.
Under Three Years Old: Complimentary
Though these visits are usually no longer than 10-15 minutes, they are some of the most important appointments you can schedule for your child! We spend time setting up your son or daughter for awesome, healthy habits before all of the teeth emerge!
We discuss everything from diet to brushing, to what toothpaste to use, how much toothpaste, and pacifiers/thumb habits! Truly the best time to learn about preventing cavities and setting up healthy habits is now!
After the initial visit, we see your child back for quick checks to make sure their smile is on track!
*This includes the initial visit exam and routine check-up exams!
How to prepare your child for the first dental visit
Don’t overthink it! If your little one has never been before, he or she may have zero expectations, and the less kids know, the better! This gives us a clean slate to make a great first impression!
If they have questions you don’t know how to answer, you can assure them that Dr. Andrea will have the answers. However, one thing you can do is try to avoid words such as “shot, hurt, drill, pain.” If your child wants to tinker on over for a tour of the office before the appointment, be our guest!
Whether you bring your child at age one or age ten for their first visit, (remember, no judgment) we are thrilled to meet you, and we will help lay the best foundation for your child’s dental habits.
Patient forms
We understand that bringing a child/children to the dentist can be overwhelming! All of our forms are posted online for you to fill out prior to your appointment to help simplify your visit!
